Fnatic, EG undefeated in first day of GESC: Thailand groupstage

GESC : Thailand group stage kicked off earlier today with impressive results from Fnatic and Evil Geniuses as they simply seek to claim additional points to bolster their rankings.

Amid the flurry of excitement in regards to the highly anticipated International 8 Battle Pass release, GESC : Thailand got off on a heated start. Both Evil Geniuses and Fnatic were on fire, ending their day undefeated.

The North American team took down Alpha Red, Keen Gaming and the majority notably their NA peers —VGJ. Storm. Being one spot far from breaking through towards the Top 8 threshold, EG can offer a big bump on their points and momentum heading straight into the previous couple of events from the season.

Fnatic took down four teams with their opening day —Apha Red, SG e-sports, The Final Tribe and upset Team Secret during the past moments from the match to serve the Europeans their only loss from the day.

Although it was eventually not surprising to a lot of that Alpha Red — the winners from the Thailand qualifiers struggled against many of the biggest names inside the Dota 2 scene, it was eventually surprising to discover that SG e-sports didn‘t claim one win in four matches played. Two teams will certainly be eliminated towards the end of tomorrow. Merely a spectacular comeback day could keep both of these from bidding farewell towards the last minor from the season early.

The group stage action resumes tomorrow, May 10th at 10 : 00 local time / 05 : 00 CEST with 12 more best-of-one series to conclude the very first phase.
